Have you ever listened to a Podcast? Do you even know what a Podcast is?
Podcasts, which are online shows that can either be solely audio, or also can be live streamed to include video, are episodes of a series put out by the podcaster that can be subscribed to, mostly, through iTunes, and can be listened to on smartphones, tablets and computers. Podcasts have become very popular with the younger generation, as well as many adult Americans who find a connection with the podcasters, who, unlike on a program put over general broadcast medium, can set the agenda for the podcast, the topic for the podcast, and to be as open and honest as the podcasters desire. Podcasts have been described as the most intimate conversation that two or more people can have that is listened by tens of thousands of other people.
Podcasts genres include sports, news, economics, and, mostly, comedy. For many of the podcasters, their fan base becomes as addicted to their podcasts as some people are to TV series or movie genres.
A documentary about podcasts, and the connections between the podcasters and their audiences, has recently been funded through Kickstarter, an online fundraising site. The documentary being created by the Comedy Film Nerds, Chris Mancini and Graham Elwood, who created the LA Podcast Festival, is based on footage shot by a young filmmaker at last year’s LA Podcast Festival. That filmmaker, who will be the producer of this documentary entitled “Ear Buds,” is none other than Keith Blomberg, son of Gimmel, Weiman, Ersek, Blomberg & Lewis’s partner, Steven Blomberg. Obviously, Steve, his wife, Karen, and the entire Firm is very excited about this opportunity for Keith who recently made his first guest appearance on a podcast appearing on the Comedy Film Nerds’ podcast released on February 25, 2014.
If you are a fan of podcasts, or know someone who is, please look forward to the Fall of 2015 for the release of this documentary.
