Attorney Leah Morabito attended The Montgomery County Women’s Bar Association “Leaders and Legends” event on May 7th honoring those many women who have contributed to the Montgomery County WBA and who have been instrumental in its growth and development over the years. Honored at the event were all of the prior presidents of the WBA as well as some very special Honorees. Individuals honored included: The Honorable Rosalyn B. Bell, The Honorable Rita R. Rosenkranz, Donna Van Scoy, Joan M. Goeringer, and The Honorable Ann N. Sundt.
A highlight of the evening was panel much like “The View” wherein some of notable women in the Montgomery County Bar talked about how things were “back in the day” and how things have changed over the years. Stories abounded of women attorneys being mistaken for secretaries and being asked to fetch coffee for the male partners. All agree that times have changed dramatically since the early days and we owe those positive changes to the incredible women who were the early “pioneers” in the in the women’s legal community. As was so eloquently stated by Sharon Johnson, the president of the WBA, “No one progresses or achieves success alone. We are all the product of so many who have influenced us, mentored us, or lent us a helping hand, and we owe them a debt of gratitude. Therefore, it is incumbent upon us all to respect and acknowledge our guides and mentors, our leaders and role models.
A special thanks to Susan Oldham who worked tirelessly to put the program together. Our firm contributed financially to the event and Leah Morabito volunteered time assisting wherever needed that night. We were honored to be a part of this momentous occasion.
