A substantial portion of Gimmel, Weiman,
Ersek, Blomberg & Skok, P.A.’s practice is devoted
to family law and divorce matters. This
includes all areas of domestic litigation
which may be necessary to ensure that the
client’s rights are protected and enforced.
In addition, our attorneys are fully
experienced in the area of Alternative
Dispute Resolution including certification
in Divorce Mediation and Collaborative Law,
the latest innovative way of dispute
resolution out-of-court for our family law
clients.
Our attorneys are particularly experienced
in handling complex cases involving high net
worth individuals with holdings in excess of
$10 million dollars, complex business
ownership disputes, business valuations,
self-employed individuals, child support by
parents whose income exceed the State
Guidelines, alimony in cases of
unconscionably disparate incomes, support in
cases of voluntarily impoverishment, tracing
of marital and non-marital assets, tracing
of assets dissipated in anticipation of
divorce, division of qualified and
non-qualified pension assets for federal and
private employees, securing electronically
stored discovery to discover hidden assets
or other valuable evidence, contempt and
enforcement of Orders, and complex custody
and visitation and grandparent visitation
cases involving private and court-ordered
custody evaluations.
Based on the wide range of experience that
our domestic relations attorneys have, they
are regularly appointed by the court to
represent minor children in contested
custody/visitation case, such as to act as a
Best
Interest Attorney to assist the Court in
determining what is in the best interests of
the children.
Our attorneys have published many articles
on family law that appear on our
website. And our
attorneys have designed a website for our
client and others going through separation
and divorce to learn and stay informed about
the laws and procedures of their particular
domestic case. See
www.YourDivorceLawyers.com.
While our efforts are always directed toward
successful resolution of the dispute for the
client and any children, we recognize that
if an out-of-court settlement cannot be
reached, vigorous representation in court is
required. In settling cases out of court,
our Firm’s attorneys have prepared hundreds
of separation agreements, property
settlement agreements, parenting agreements,
and pre-nuptial agreements. Tax consequences
of division of property and alimony are
always explored and discussed with the
client before any agreement is finalized.
Estate planning attorneys are also brought
into the picture to ensure that, pending any
divorce, or upon completion of a divorce,
the client’s estate planning is revised so
as to ensure the client’s assets receive the
best treatment upon passing to heirs, and
that all estate planning documents,
including any existing trusts or powers of
attorney, are revised to reflect the change
in marital status.
In court, our team of family law attorneys
will assist the client in getting the best
result possible. This may include having our
business law attorneys involved in the trial
if there is a family owned business, or if
there is a need to place a value on a
business or stock owned by either spouse.
When necessary, we also work with private
investigators to obtain evidence of marital
infidelity and locate hidden assets.
In the unfortunate case where abuse is
occurring, our Law Firm is very experienced
in helping the client obtain an order
against domestic violence for the protection
of the client and the family’s children.
Further, where false accusations of domestic
violence are made, we are experienced in
helping clients defend unwarranted filings
for orders against domestic violence. For
more information about domestic violence,
see our
Domestic Violence Handbook.
One of the great pleasures that our Law Firm
has is assisting couples adopt minor
children. When working with the court for a
private, confidential adoption, our
attorneys pay specific attention to the
needs of both the soon-to-be parents and the
child. We are experienced in assisting our
clients through this exciting, but sometimes
emotionally difficult process.
The attorneys at Gimmel, Weiman, Ersek, Blomberg
& Skok, P.A., know that any matter
relating to family law and/or divorce is
emotional and difficult. We work with our
clients to make sure that they understand
the legal ramifications of their actions and
their rights under the law. Where the
opportunity presents itself, our attorneys
advocate an appropriate settlement that
recognizes the facts of the case and the
rights of the parties. When settlement is
not possible, we zealously represent our
clients in court and work to achieve the
