Tax consequences of division of property and alimony are always explored and discussed with the client before any agreement is finalized.

Estate planning attorneys are also brought into the picture to ensure that, pending any divorce, or upon completion of a divorce, the client’s estate planning is revised so as to ensure the client’s assets receive the best treatment upon passing to heirs, and that all estate planning documents, including any existing trusts or powers of attorney, are revised to reflect the change in marital status.
